The HCLA hosted its first ever Continuing Professional Development Session (CPD) accredited by the Law Society of Upper Canada on Wednesday May 29, 2013.
The CPD Session, "Challenges and Opportunities in the First 10 Years of Practice", provided attendees with 1.25 professionalism hours of development. It was presented by HCLA members:
- The Hon. Madam Ria Tzimas (Ontario Superior Court);
- Gina Alexandris (Director, Strategic Planning and Knowledge Management at the Ministry of the Attorney General); and
- George Karayannides (litigator and Executive Committee member at Heenan Blaikie).
The Session covered topics including: (1) new clients; (2) opposing counsel; (3) the judiciary; and (4) limits of substantive knowledge.
